Problem
Is that true that Version 8 or DB2 9 is the last version that will support the internal security?

Solution
No. DB2 has both DB2 internal and external security. Any rumors to this effect are false.

GRANT and REVOKE are part of the SQL standard and help with DB2 family compatibility. Most customers use DB2 internal GRANT and REVOKE security.
Customers can also use external security via the Access Control Authorization Exit, such as for RACF access control. For guidance about which to use, see the Technote "Should I use the traditional DB2 security or RACF access control?"

When DB2® removes a significant function, IBM® generally identifies this change for customers as a deprecated function. Version 8 has several deprecated functions, including distributed private protocol, selective partition locking and DB2-managed stored procedures. DB2 9 has some items that are removed and other new items that are deprecated. See the Installation Guide sections on incompatible changes for the details. In DB2 9, see the chapter 8 section "Changes to DB2 that might impact your migration to Version 9.1 compatibility mode" and "Make adjustments for release incompatibilities."

While it is not always possible to provide an early warning for every new function, you can expect changes of this magnitude to be communicated clearly before they occur.
