IBM Optimization Service Center for DB2 for z/OS (OSC) is a workstation tool for monitoring and tuning the SQL statements that run on your DB2 for z/OS subsystem. You can use OSC to identify and analyze problem SQL statements and to perform tuning tasks:

Analyze statements and at the workload level - all SQL statements from a particular collection, plan, or package Learn what statistics are missing and automatically generate specialized RUNTSTAS control statements that go beyond RUNSTATS ALL jobs Quickly "snap the cache" to capture dynamic SQL statements and analyze them as a workload or drill into individual statements Capture runtime information, such as number of executions and CPU time, about statements, including static SQL statements Proactively monitor the health of your SQL workloads during normal processing, and receive problem alerts when a statement exceeds exception thresholds OSC also provides powerful tuning tools that enable the experienced DBA to drill into SQL statements and perform detailed analysis tasks:

Format and view SQL statements with statistics annotations and the statement as transformed by the DB2 optimizer View EXPLAIN information for individual SQL statements in a graphical format, making relationships between database objects and operations instantly clear Graphically create and deploy plan hints
