Copying catalog and directory objects
Abstract
This example uses the TEMPLATE, LISTDEF, and COPY utilities to copy catalog and directory objects.
Content
This example uses the TEMPLATE, LISTDEF, and COPY utilities to copy the catalog and directory objects in the proper order for recovery.
This job contains the following series of utility control statements:
The TEMPLATE utility control statements provide the definitions for the data sets that are to be dynamically allocated. The copies are to be written to these data sets.
The LISTDEF utility control statement defines a list of catalog and directory objects that are to be copied. Note that you cannot use pattern matching expressions for catalog and directory objects.
The COPY utility control statements indicate the objects that are to be copied, including the list of objects that is defined by the LISTDEF statement. Note that SYSLGRNX and SYSCOPY must be copied in separate COPY statements, and SYSUTILX must be copied in a separate JOB step.
To run the example,
1. Download the example, and upload it to your OS/390® or z/OS® system.
2. Edit the JCL and control statement as you are instructed in the comments.
3. Submit the job.
