Abstract
This presentation describes the major optimization enhancements in DB2® for z/OS® Version 8, including star join optimization, predicate sargability, table function optimization and execution, Visual Explain, complex joins, materialized query tables, and the REOPT(ONCE) bind option. For each new enhancement, the presentation discusses the motivation behind the enhancement, the underlying technology employed for the enhancement, and how you can best exploit the enhancement in DB2 applications.
