The objective is to provide a detailed technical description of DB2 for z/OS Version 8, describing the functional enhancements  and the technical requirements of the very significant new version of DB2 for z/OS. This class will  also provide an information plan for  implementing this new version. This class should allow students to evaluate the usefulness of the new features in their installation.

This new version of DB2 for z/OS is a very significant release . Version 8 brings major enhancements in performance and availability, Structured Query Language (SQL) capabilities, network computing (including the new Java Universal Driver), and DB2 utilities. Students will be provided with the latest available information about all new functional enhancements.The migration to DB2 for z/OS V8 is different from previous DB2 migrations. Therefore we will also spend a considerable amount of time discussing the migration path to go from DB2 V7 to V8, and the steps to perform.
