Can I change the DATE/TIME subsystem defaults?

Problem

The DB2 Installation Guide indicates that it is possible, but not recommended, to change the DSNHDECP DATE and TIME default formats. Could you please elaborate on the problems that could arise by changing from USA to ISO DATE/TIME formats?

Solution

The DATE and TIME settings you specified when initially installing DB2® might create application dependencies on those formats. Therefore, changing the DATE and TIME settings during Migration or Update is not recommended.

Any change outside of the documented installation procedure is the user's responsibility.
